Job Description

This is a highly responsible, technical, administrative position, reporting to the Assistant Fire Chief, with the Ambulance Billing Coordinator being responsible for the overall EMS accounting, billing, collections, accounts receivable, and Iowa data submission. It is the responsibility of the Ambulance Billing Coordinator to work closely with Fire Department members, assisting them in regularly obtaining meaningful reports from the EMS Patient Care Reporting software, enabling them to proactively address training and quality improvement needs of the Department. This position starts at $29.62 per hour with excellent benefits including IPERS, health and dental insurance, vacation, sick leave, 10 paid holidays and more! Requirements include HS diploma or GED with some college work in business preferred. Medical billing experience is also a plus. Ability to prioritize and be organized, along with excellent communication skills are important. Also necessary are detail orientation, ability to comply with HIPPA requirements, and ability to read and understand various rules and regulations. The successful candidate must be able to obtain ambulance coder certification and maintain this throughout employment. Residency within 30 air miles of Muscatine city limits and ability to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen is required.
