Patent Associate Attorney

Practice Area: Biotechnology & Life Sciences Innovation

Location: Boston, MA

Salary: Lockstep ($225k- $345k)

Schedule: Onsite (possible remote days), big law billables (1,850 minimum)

The Opportunity:

Our client is one of the best legal services in the world within the life science IP and Patent space. They seek an exceptional Patent Associate Attorney to join their Boston, MA offices and immediately contribute to a competitive market within the life sciences innovation industries.

Required:

  1. Juris Doctorate in Law from an ABA accredited Law School with a license to practice in the state of Massachusetts or ability to waive in within 30 days of offer.
  2. Dual Doctoral degree (Ph.D) in a life sciences discipline (biology, medical, etc.)
  3. USPTO Certification or ability to obtain within 30 days offer
  4. Minimum of one (1) year with preferably no more than five (5) years of experience in the discipline.

Core Responsibilities:

As a key member of our client's IP prosecution and patent portfolio team, you will become proficient and excel in:

  • Drafting and prosecuting complex patent applications before the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) and managing corresponding international patent portfolios.
  • Analyzing patent documents and prior art to conduct due diligence on and determine the feasibility, invalidity and freedom-to-operate to determine patentability of novel therapeutics, biomedical marvels, clinical diagnostics, and a plethora of other life sciences innovations.
  • Formulating and executing sophisticated patent strategies to support the long-term business objectives of our clients.
  • Providing corporate counsel for clients spanning the end-to-end of intellectual property law matters , which heavily involves portfolio management and due diligence in a scientific approach towards modern and future miracle inventions of the med-tech industry.
  • Collaboration with firm leadership, partners and associates to deliver superb service to the firm's bespoke client-base in Houston's burgeoning life sciences industry.
