• Specialty: GENERAL SURGERY
• Schedule: 1.0 FTE - 36 Patient Care hours, with 4 hours of Admin time per week; Clinic Hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday-Friday, one-half day of Clinic per week (3-hour block) seeing pre-op/post-op patients. Assist with rounding on inpatients and in the OR. Responsible for assisting Acute Care Surgeon, new consults/rounding/assisting the Surgeon as needed. Occasional travel to cover cases/rounds at Mercy Hospital, Oshkosh.
• Call Schedule: Weekends 1:6 - Call Friday 3:00pm, through Monday 7:00am. Weekend Call involves rounding both days, and covering emergent OR cases. Weekdays 1:6 - Call 5:00pm to 7:00am (responsibile for relieving in OR as needed).
• Practice Detail: This position is part of a Regional Group between St Elizabeth Hospital, Appleton and Mercy Hospital, Oshkosh; home base is Appleton.

Responsibilities

Ascension-Wisconsin is looking for a board eligible / board certified Physician Assistant to join our General Surgery Team. This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to partner with Ascension-Wisconsin to provide medical services to patients.

Posit ion Highlights:

• Assist in the OR, and round on patients in the Fox Valley
• Call for Weekends 1:6 and Call for Weekdays 1:6

Responsibilities:

Provides direct diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services under the supervision of a physician.Obtain patient history and perform assessment via observation, interview and examination.

Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic studies. Perform preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations and patient care.

• Provide direct treatment and management of health conditions via referral to other healthcare providers or community resources.
• Counsel and educate patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options and community resources.
• Document delivery of health care and nursing processes in accordance with specific specialty area standards and network nursing policy.

Requirements

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Physician Assistant credentialed from the Wisconsin Medical Examining Board obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Verified by local Credentialing Office.
• Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Orthopedic Physician Assistant preferred. Verified by local Credentialing Office.

Education:

• Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program. Master's degree preferred.

Work Experience:

• 1 year of experience preferred.
