Terrarium Care: Keeping It Simple
Here’s the lowdown on looking after your Blue Squid Creation Terrarium.
The 3 Most Important Things for Closed Terrariums and Partially Open Terrariums
- Light: Bright, indirect light is best. Keep it away from direct sun. Turn it occasionally for even growth.
- Cleaning: Use distilled or rainwater.
- Water: Use distilled or rainwater.
Looking After a Closed Terrarium
- Watering: You won't need to water for long periods of time. The moisture recycles inside. Only add a tiny bit if you don’t see any condensation on the glass or the substrate appears dry.
- Too Much Moisture: If there's constant heavy fog, open the lid for a while to let some out.
Looking After a Partially Open Terrarium
- Watering: Keep the soil gently damp by misting it. Check the soil weekly; if it feels dry, give it a spray. Avoid making it soggy.
Looking after a Cacti/Succulent Terrarium
- Watering: Only water when completely dry.
- Light: Can cope with some direct sunlight.
Moss Balls
- Water: Change water if cloudy. You can even use tap water.
Air Plants
- Water: Every couple of months, submerge in water, remove and leave to dry upside down to ensure no leaf rot occurs.
Troubleshooting
- Stretchy or elongated Plants: Needs more light
- Pale or Burnt Leaves: Too much light.
- Mold: Too much moisture. For closed terrariums, vent to reduce moisture. Remove any mold and or decaying plants.
Please ensure you follow the above care information to allow your terrarium to thrive.
